Michel Claise, one of the two laureates of the Citizenship Award 2016

The Citizenship Award 2016 was given out on the 23rd November 2016 to Michel Claise and Jan Nolf, two magistrates striving for citizen's equality before the law and also defending the rights and obligations of each citizen. Through their words and actions in the medias, they defend the independance of justice against the power of money and act to protect the democratic rule of law. Insensitive to pressure, they both show how individuals can contribute to change from within the judiciary system, often poorly taken into account by the general public.
