Jan Goossens has been artistic director of the Royal Flemish Theatre in Brussels since 2001. From a strong social commitment, he has led the KVS to become a contemporary city theatre with an open eye for the diversity in his own country and the cultural wealth elsewhere in the world. In Brussels, for example, the KVS works closely with the Théâtre National. Since 2007, Jan Goossens has coordinated the PASS (Performing Arts Summer School) in Palestine and since 2009 he has organised an annual theatre festival in Kinshasa.
